The Veiled Christ, at the center of the nave of the chapel, is one the best known and most evocative in the world. The work whose image is famous for the remarkable "texture" of the marble veil almost make it even more naked and exposed the poor body, and relentless and precise lines of the broken body of Christ.
The sculptor Giuseppe Sammartino "embroiders" the edges of the shroud in detail and focuses on the wounds of the nails on the feet and hands, creating a work to be so realistic indelibly imprinted in the memory of the visitor and make him share in the grief of Christ.
